GEO HEX works great for Battle Tech (& 15 mm Napoleonics) & I think
would be good for Epic. SLopes are NOT too steep, rather more gradual
than many other terrain. Having said that it is expensive and can be
dinged easily - if you have a wide tabel and someone puts their hand on
it to "support" themselves as they lean over .... edges tend to get beat
up too. I have never actually seen anyone "break" a piece though.
Also. with wide expanses you get a hex grid effect - you can still see
the seams.

On the plus side you can make many different layouts and the whole thing
can be disassembled and packed up.

My opinions are my own, my employer knows nothing about it.
