It is also the modifier of the word tyrannic or tyrant, which I thinkis
the more likely source. Tyrant as in overruling and destructive, tyranid,
overruling and borne of spores.

That would be dool if you are north american, (just like stoopid), but
being of English origin, I have always pronounced it dyool (and styoopid)
