I figured that the LRs would be heavier cos they need extra strength to
carry a full ten man squad of Marines or 5 Termies.

Also, a LR is designed for SM assaults so would need heavier armour to
protect itself.

Leman Russ's, although the IGs MBT, have better sloping sides than a Land
Raider, so would need less armour to protect itself, hence lighter tank.

In WW2, Tiger tanks were heavy cos of the weight of its straight-sided
armour. Panthers were lighter cos they had sloped armour and didnt need as
much protection to survive on a battlefield.

Tiger = Land Raider
Panther = Leman Russ
