Since several people have asked to have the email that Jervis wrote to the
40K list dealing with his transition and the state of things forwarded, here
it is:

>Well it's been a while, but I've managed to get back onto the 40K list in
>the end - and just when you all thought you'd got rid of me : )
>
>Those of you who can remember back to when I was last on the list will know
>that I don't post ll that often, and that I prefer to get in touch simply
>to correct errors of fact or help try and sort out an especially thorny
>rules problem. Veterans will lso know that I am remarkably thick-skinned,
>so don't feel that you have to watch what you say about GW just because I'm
>around (not that you would anyway!). Anyway, it's good to be back, and I
>look forward to being here for a while.
>
>With regard to errors of fact, I'm going to send a seperate email about the
>Epic Squat question which seems to be vexing some of you, in order to set
>the record straight. However, while I was skimming through the mail I also
>noticed a reference to my being, erm, how can I put this, *removed* from
>the Studio, one assumes as a bad influence. To which all I can say is:
>
>WAAAAAAA ha hah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!
>
><Sniff, wipes tears from eyes>
>
>Sorry, no, this rumour isn't quite right. Basically, I've ended up with
>what I think is arguably the best job at GW. I'm called the 'hobby
>manager', and this means that I'm responsible for looking after the way GW
>helps the hobby to grow and prosper 'on the street', as it were. At its
>simplest level this means that I'm going to be the person responsible for
>making events that we hold like like Games Day and the Tournaments as good
>as they can be for *everyone* who's into the hobby. I'll also be looking at
>the way we encourage clubs and gaming groups to be formed, how we run our
>'in-store gaming policy' in our stores, and how we reflect the hobby in our
>publications. To start off with I'm going to concentrate my efforts on the
>UK (one's got to start small, after all), but I'm hoping to be able to
>spread my wings and travel further afield just as soon as I can!
>
>As I hope you can tell, I'm very enthusiastic about the job, and see it
>very much as a continuation of the work I did at the Studio rather than a
>replacement for it. In any case, I still spend about a day a week at the
>Studio, talking about things I've heard on the road, and looking at what
>they're getting up to, and writing stuff. For example, I've just handed
>over a 40K scenario pack, written in what's meant to be my 'spare' time
>(before you ask, sorry, no, I can't tell you anything about what's in
>it...)
>
>Hope that makes things clearer.
>
>Jervis
>
>PS. "P:" is a 'code' that I used to put in the subject line to let you know
>that the post was from a Studio primarch. I'll keep on using it, unless
>anyone objects.
