This kind of argument doesn't work well, with Space Marine fluff. Any Space
Marine army (just Space Marine, I mean), is risking a large fraction of the
chapter in one battle. :) (But I don't worry too much about fluff. :)

They didn't seem to have that in mind so much, with the extra cost of
command for that sort of detachment. (Though I like the
main-force-also-available-for-support idea of IG infantry detachments.)
I'm still using a Space Marine army, plus (occasionally) titans. After much
more painting, I'll start on some IG, and I'm sure I'll use 'em together
sometimes. Unfortunately, the way that seems to make the most sense for
combined SM and IG forces (small number of SM for some specific task) gets
suspicion for being taken for the strategy rating. Oh, well.
(It isn't hard to get the impression that GW likes Space Marines. :)
