I wasn't making the assertion, but was just saying that I've heard that
about Epic 40K, when the original poster was saying it about 2nd edition,
and thought that was mildly funny.

You can draw the balance line between fantasy and some realistic effects
(I'm not saying realism) at different places.

Because their is only so much time I have to invest in a game. I have a
wife and two kids, and a pretty busy life. I don't like having a game go
too late into the night, even if I was having fun. In 2nd edition, I was
always using forces smaller than what I read about other people using, to
keep the time down. I'm now using more forces with more variety than I used
to.

I'm quite sure many people played 2nd edition more quickly than I did. I
like both games, but just happen to like Epic 40K more now.
