Just to give you a visual, the original space-marine helmets had a long,
distended faceplate that looked very much like a beak. Thus, the Orkish
nickname. You can probably find some pictures of these olde "beaky"
marines if you flip through some old GW painting guides.
Fortunately, the look of SM power armor has improved over the years. :)
