Taken from this month's PC Format, UK:

While cryptography experts fluster over the inadequacy of available
encryption software, a 17-year-old Kent schoolboy has taken the matter
into his own hands and created a system that is virtually unvreakable.
Peter Parkinson's system, "Unbreakable Encryption", is freely available
over the net and enables users to encode files with a 2,048-bit key, as
opposed to a 40-bit key which is the maximum strength the US governemtn
will allow to be exported.

...

"When I didn't know much about encryption, I thought bigger equalled
stronger," he [Parkinson] told PC Format... "It took me 4 weeks, just
for the encryption engine. But it takes time to write the Windows
software, that took another 2 to 3 months."
