Nope. A vehicle doesn't get a save if someone is riding (mounted) in
it. If the character can *upgrade* to a unit (say, to a bike, or jump
packs) *then* that unit has the "Hero" statistic. (Although Titans
*never* get Hero status.)
However, I'd say that a character in a transport does still get his save
if the transport is destroyed -- ie, he gets two 4+ saves instead of
one. But the *vehicle* doesn't get a save.
