Games Workshop has NOT shifted the emphasis from long range to combat. If
your games are playing like that, then you are playing them wrong. Combat has
been designed to hurt both sides badly, so unless you have a massive
advantage, why go into combat? Firefights are much more preferable.
also, if your idea of tactics is simply choosing the right models then, yes,
games workshop has stopped that. In the old rules, the models were given
stupid points values that seemed to be just random numbers.
The game now rests upon how good a general you are, not where you set up your
men and how many terminators/thunderhawks you have.
