The rules here are *GASP* Actually Clear!!! They even give an example
showing exactly this type of situation.
The answer, BTW, is that the Bikes CAN move towards enemy B. But only if
every CLOSER unit of enemy A was already engaged in Close Combat. This
is because at some point, Bikes would otherwise be moving away from a
closer unengaged enemy, which is Verboten.
To Clarify by example.
Assuming Enemy A has 3 stands. Bikes have only 3 stands. Then, if 1 of
the bikes could engage 2 of enemy A's stands, and another could engage
the remaining stand, then the third stand of bikes could go ahead and
hit B. "Engage" in this case means "Get into Base To Base Contact With".
And there's a limit of 2:1.
Where is this made clear?
BATTLES book ( Book 3 ),
"House Rules, Frequently Asked Questions and Other Nonsense", page 107,
paragraph 8 "The Assault Phase"
Question: "Moving _past_ in the Assault phase. What does this mean?"
