----> This is probably more dependent on what you like in 2nd ed, as
those
weapons are much more detailed e.g. there are power fists, chain fists,
and
lasburners in Sm/TL, all with different effects. In E40K they're just a
"close combat weapon". Most of the multiple dice gatling blasters,
lasblasters
Vulcan mega-bolters etc are a generic 8 FP weapons battery. The big guns
with the high save mods like volcano cannons are a death ray. Your quake
cannons and a few others are now "mega cannons" and your missile
launchers
can now be a heavy barrage. Vortex missiles are still special.
I would base the pick mainly on which version you will play more, with
2nd always getting some consideration just in case you decide to try it
out.
Some combos actually seem a little stronger in E40K. Close combat
weapons
really only help against other war engines, so those ass-kicking chain
fists
aren't quite as mandatory as they were, but they do get some FP now.
Some options did get left out, so my Warlord with the Deathstrike
cannon
(you know - replaced the head 10 Bp's , big save mod) missile launcher,
quake
cannon, volcano cannon and fire control center is really undefined in
E40K.
Corvus heads/pods and Bells get kinda screwed too.
Also, let part of your decision be what looks cool to you. I always
thought
the lasblasters looked stupid as arm mounts, so I didn't use them there.
I thought
powerfists were useless, but I liked the look so I put them on a few
units. Heck,
now you could try Plasma guns as arm mounts.

If you want the book conversion list, I could post it here tomorrow, if
no one thinks
that's a big copyright issue. It's not exactly "rules" is it...?

(who thought the old titan battlegroup cards were one of the best adds
to
the game...)
