OK, let's not get down to the nitty-gritty of exactly how far the
holofield projects its image. You could just as easily argue that since
the holofield works against hits inflicted by artillery, that it throws
the image at least 6cm (one barrage template diameter) away. After all,
barrage attacks aren't directed at a target, rather, at an area.
Therefore, if the holofield save applies...

I believe the opposite would be true of a close assult with a holofield
equiped titan. I envision the Imperial titan making that "huge sweeping
horizontal arc with its chainfist at about waist height.", finding that it
had missed, and was off balance and being struck from behind by the Eldar
titan. A holofield would obviously give a HUGE advantage from what is
effectivly a "hack, slash and grapple" attack. ;-)

The holofield saves against everything. Barrage, psychic, close assault,
standard firepower, special weapon, whatever. I don't like it, but I
accept it. I fear my regular Eldar opponents Revenant Titans. That 2+
save bugs the hell out of me. But, I have devised tactics which allow me
to destroy them most of the time. Sometimes I lose even though I've
destroyed them, sometimes I win even though they're still kicking.
