Thanks Tom'
Unfortunatly I'm not on ICQ at the moment. But, now I know that 4.1 is
there I think I can get them somehow. It's a shame that I used so much
ink cartridge printing 4.0. just a few weeks ago.:)
Are there alot of differences in the new version ? Have all the army
lists been updated?
Also I don't want to take undue credit - I , unfortunatly don't have a
squat army - but if they'd had 1st ed rules for them back then, I would
have. It brought me great sadness to discover that all those great
swarms of trikes etc on the plastic sprues are no longer available.
Frankly I thought Epic would be supported as long as 40k was, and if a
third edition ever came out it would be more like Netepic and there
would be no reason to stop supporting the Squats. Alas, time ran out.
Even for background reasons their departure has left a vacume. I think
the Imperials need some abhuman or even human variation because without
them then the millions of worlds of the human empire have one
mono-culture and I can't buy that. At least the squats hinted at the
variation in humanity that must inevitably occur over the vastness of
time and space. Infact, I can't look at those Tau suits without thinking
of them as human - like they are in Appleseed (man they look similar). I
think it would have been good if the Tau were a different brand of
humans who developed their tech while isolated by warp-storms. They
could even have mutated to look the same as they do. They look almost
human anyway. (now Tyranids - they are aliens!) Maybe the Inquisition
could want them destroyed so that the balance of power is not disrupted
by their new "human' technology. When isolated from chaos by warp
storms, plenty of human civilisations could evolve and infact might
develop to be far better off than under the repression of the Imperium.
Though I'm not entirely comfortable with how they did it , I do think it
was a good idea to intoduce a Manga style army.(and it's great to know
Netepic is here to adapt it ). I know they are not supposed to be close
combat troops, but I'd like to see one of those big suits wielding a
long Samurai sword. Which reminds me, I don't play Warhammer , but I
always thought an army of evil looking fantasy Samurai would be great.
About scenarios- I haven't ever played them, but I snipped out and filed
an article from an old WD, with, I think, four quite interesting looking
scenarios specifically for 2nd edition. I don't have a scanner at
present, but for now I can dig them out and describe them if you like. I
doubt I'm the only one with that old WD though.(Unfortunately i cut them
from the mag and cant remember which issue) Maybe someone has already
tried them? Anyway, they seem like a simple way of adding varirety to
the game, particularly for armies that have faced each other before.
