Hi!

Well put. The two games try to emphasize different aspects of the game. Epic40k tried to emphasize the morale/victory aspect but killed the unit character, while Net Epic certainly has character, but morale is pretty much underplayed.

Also, if you play Net Epic, as a player you like tweaking, changing and otherwise pushing the envelop. You can't do this with e40k, because its very likely someone will wave a book at you and say "its not official" If you like officiality your probably not on this list.

<grin> the die type question. This has been taken on many times. Mostly it has been decided by majority to keep the d6. Like you I think GW's adherence to the d6 is one of the most retrictive things in regards to game design. Other die types give you SO MUCH leeway when designing and helps represent SO much more. There were some ideas to make net epic d10 based. Easy enough to convert everything. I would do the same wth epic 40k, I think it would benefit greatly from a higher die type. But convincing GW of that is very hard.

If you want to experiment on this please do, the little I have done regarding that issue lends itself to interesting results.
