This was the subject of a long debate once. The consensus was that they WERE effected, because the magic affects the "body" as well as the soul. While robots and such dont have souls (although eldar counterparts DO have souls) it was decided the plague would corrode and destroy the "bodies" of the robots and other such units.

Correction. Eldar titans ARE manned. They lay in a trance around a large way stone which is the titans "soul". They commune with it as they control the titan. They could be affected, but see below.

An unmodified save in the case of a unit with hit location template is its best saving throw on the template (in this case 1+), meaning it is immune to the attack since you always save on a unmodified 1+.
