Not just horses but cavalry also includes other types of mounts than horses
particularly the warboars used by snakebites a species that is definitely
not renowned for its ability to jump obstacles. Especially if the Mekboy has
got his hands on it and turned them into Cyboars

Hi!

Granted the trench would be narrow, but we must deal in averages, on
average a horse will never make it across a trench alive, and so might
as well NOT let them do it. The change of actually crossing is so small
that's it's not worth mentioning.

The same criticism was made of Star Trek, that the
corridors on the starship Enterprise were much too
wide. They also were made that size simply so the
camera dolly could travel along them.

In reality, I would expect a trench to be just wide
enough for two men to squeeze past each other (hence
the name 'slit trench'). If it is wide enough for a
car to drive down the middle, it is no longer a
trench.

A lot of WW1 trenches were narrow enough for a man to
jump!
