Hi!

Yes, the rules look at lot better, I'll be trying them out today.

I will be changing the structure of the armies to better represent them.
The original ones where put in for lack of a better idea. You'll need
less command models with the newer battlegroup scheme.

For example lets take SM. A battlegroup will consists of 1-3 "groups"
(i.e. detachments, clans, etc.). Since SM are an elite group they can
take any combination of support and line troops at the basic command
level. Also they can take 1, 2, or 3 "groups" to give them flexibility
(unlike IG where you HAVE to take a minimum amount). While the actual
groups are small the battlegroup gets bigger, like this:

SM Battlegroup

3 Tactical groups

Total- 12 tactical stands and 6 rhinos

A SM commander with a leadership of 5 could lead UP TO 5 such
battlegroups.

Note that you could change lets say one tactical group for a group of
whirlwinds or land raider for support.

This approach makes the morale rules easier since morale is PER
battlegroup not its components. In case of "groups" of differing morale
use the average of the two. This promotes not diluting "veterans" with
"greens".

It drastically cuts down bookkeeping.

The new initiative rules are shaping up well too.

Peter,
The demo rules look good for the new EPIC version.
Simple, after only one quick read you get the basic
gist. It looks like an improvement.
On Heresey, are you changing the structure for
selecting troops? I remember you needed a lot of HQ's.
Actually after we played I made up 2K,3K,4k and 5K
armies for Space Marines based on the models I
actually had. In order to get more support units you
had to take a Battalion or Regimental Commander
otherwise you would have tones of Company Commanders.
My only compalint was that the squads could have been
a bit larger for the troops--6 Tactical and 3 rhinos
oppossed to 4 and 2 respectively. What does the
battlegroup entail?
