Subject: [NetEpic ML] [v5.0] IG revision: before we start

There are a few things to consider. I'll generate a poll about these but
I'd still want to hear opinions about these.

1) The command Rhinos. IMO IG infantry company commanders should have
Chimeras. However, if the Rhinos are removed IG players are going to
have a bunch of useless Rhinos sitting around and the additional problem
of actually getting the Chimeras from somewhere.

<grin> you beat me to the punch! I was going to suggest this too. Over
the years we have given most armies their own APC's, for example the
squats have the Ironshield, so IG should have chimeras.

2) Predator and Vindicator. Officially these are Marine tanks. However,
if these are removed from IG army list quite a few IG commanders would
be disgruntled.

I would poll on this, but my feeling is to leave them as optional IG
formations for those who wish to use them. It's always bad policy to
eliminate anything since people have invested time and money on their
models.

3) Over time there have been a number of new tanks released for IG.
Proposals can be found here:
http://www.netepic.org/Articles/new_units.htm. Should any of these be
adopted?

Yes, we should make stats for all of them. In some cases its easy like
static forms of artillery that already exists (perhaps some general
rules for static artillery are in order), others would not be to hard to
accommodate.

4) There have also been suggestions for the different regiments. Do you
think any of them should be adopted? The suggestions can be found from
the Files section of our group:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/netepic/files/Non-image%20folder/New%20uni
ts%20and%20rules/. Take a look at the following files: SPECIAL
REGIMENTS.doc (Cadians, Catachans, Mordians, Tallarns, Valhallans) and
Storm troopers.rtf (self explanatory).

Yes, as optional rules/organization only.

GW has also introduced a number of new regiments since, for which there
has been no proposals (Death Korps of Krieg, Armageddon Ork Hunters,
Savlar Chem-Dogs and Elysian Drop Troops).

Same as above.

Note that in all probability all of these proposals need some work; the
question is whether that work is worth the trouble or not.

As I said before, EVERYTHING GETS IN THIS REVISION. Of course all this
new stuff is OPTIONAL only. I want this version to be a true wealth of
ideas and options besides the usual core stuff. So everyone should
express their ideas, hammer them out and get them in. This revision is
probably the last of its kind, so I don't want ideas to get lost as they
have done in the past. Future revisions will merely be to upgrade
optional to core if any deserve it.

Anything else? Feel free to speak up.

Thanks a bunch, you pretty much covered everything I had to say and
saved me (and yourselves) from a lengthy e-mail.

Peter
