If it's got Advance or First Fire orders.
Should Moles and the like be able to open fire as soon as they emerge
(just before the infantry get out) to sort of clear a bit of space in
crowded areas? It'd be rather annoying to come up spot on target, then
find your assault troops couldn't emerge to wreak slaughter because lots
of light artillery pinned them.
Yes, that is exactly what they do. The can surface and fire to help
support the troops they help deploy.
Does halving the move for exiting from a newly surfaced tunneller
apply in addition to, or instead of the normal procedure for
transports? Who was on-list when this was covered?
It's instead of the normal procedure. This was covered in the original
version of net epic.
Was an additional halving supposed to be a slight toning down of the
effectiveness of assault troops to make up for emerging on the first
turn? As Peter mentioned that must make them rather deadly.
Yes, full movement was way too much, half movement makes it manageable.
Was it intended to let the tunneller move its full 15cm and then still
let the troops move under under their own movement? That does seem too
much.
On the turn it surfaces it can fire but not move (this should be clear
up in the rules), the troops can then disembark at half move.
Or was the implicit assumption that the tunneller couldn't move further
on the turn it emerged?
Yes, but well make it Explicit now.
