[NetEpic ML] old bases, older bases, and old guys and new guys

how many styles of old square bases were there? I have a whole lot of old
infantry, and some of it fits into the square bases and some of it doesn't(!)
 I'm thinking that the models are from one of the two old editions and the
bases are from another one.

there were two editions with square bases, weren't there?
