The fact is that NetEpic is set in the WH40K universe, and most
people's armies are already at least 90% composed of Citadel
miniatures. It is my expectation that NetEpic will continue to be
set in that universe, and that the creators of that universe will
continue to design cool miniatures for us to use. I would like to be
able to buy the new Imperial Guard tank that's coming out next month
(or whatnot) and find rules available in NetEpic in a timely
fashion. If I have to write the rules myself and submit them to
incoming, or however this works, then so be it.
Clearly there are a lot of people who like using non-Citadel
models, and that's just fine, especially for army lists that GW never
has and probably never will make models for. The Slann are a good
example there.

GW by no means has a monopoly in miniature manufacture; there are
hundreds of such companies. As huge as it may seem when compared to
other miniature companies, it really isn't that big as game companies
go, and could easily fail if things blow the wrong way. I don't want
that to happen. I think that Games Workshop is an important edifice
in gaming history, and Citadel is an important contributor to fantasy
miniatures, and I would be sad to see them go. They have a rich
history stretching back a quarter century or so, and have been making
some great things, doing harm to none, spreading joy and fun wherever
they go. Um, yeah. Anyway.

Heinlein's Mobile Infantry were clear precedents for the Space
Marines, as were Doc Smith's early Valerians. Still, NetEpic uses a
LOT of GW trademarks, and could be liable if we were to arouse the
ire of their legal department.

No time for more typing, must get back to work!
