Hello Again!
The second 'House Rule' we used in our game for Eldar Weaponry is a
pretty old one. All the way back to the original release of Epic _at_nd
edition, in fact! It arises from the ambiguous wording of the rule
dealing with combining Barrage Points in the original system:
Everyone knows that a Unit combines BP's as a Game effect, but the
original wordings didn't explicitly preclude the combining of Barrage
Weapons on a single Titan (it was later errata'd IIRC). However: The
combining of Eldar MslWing's on a single Titan worked so well, we
simply never stopped doing it. This 'old' House rule is thus one we
have _always_ used....
Here is the Idea as discussed with Peter:
(again: edited transcription of the IM conversation follows):
morach2: he likes the phantom Barrage missles idea we had
peyoterattle: Oh- Allowing a player to combine MslWing Wep Barrage
attacks into one Barrage?
_That's an _old_ idea!!_
...It really does make a two-Barrage wing flexible tho- and Worth
Taking as an option! ...two 4BP's barrages or one combined 8BP
barrage: I get really tired of seeing only two LasWing configurations
<sigh> This makes it kind of like an Eldar-ey GutBuster:
anti-personnel or anti-tank: Player's Choice!! "Feels Good", at least
to me!! ... Good "optional " rule at the very least!
ramospeter: Yes, were talking about that, I think of it as an eldar
only thing.... not "universal". It could well be a core rule soon enough!
peyoterattle: Makes sense I suppose: although I think certain Chaos
powers should get it too...Slaanesh mostly-
ramospeter: It could be a core rule in time, since its simple. 'Eldar
Only' makes it balanced since imperial weapons are too powerful combined.
peyoterattle: ...but if two and (_only_ two) Barrages could be
combined from one titan , it prevents a 32 BP barrage off a warlord
(tho- I don't think I'd have a problem personally if someone wanted to
"put all their egggs in one basket" on a Lucky strike <shrug >
peyoterattle: Like I said: I've never played Imperial: I defer to
your experience on this one P
ramospeter: remember that anything over 9BPs is STILL a 2+ hit, so its
wasted firepower.
peyoterattle: there you go-
morach2: Thomas: he says, we need to start writing this down
peyoterattle: I am transcribing our conversation as we type.....or do
you mean as far as "official NetEpic Rules Proposals" ? I've actually
been working on that, too! ....a long time I might add!!
ramospeter: Please do! Only: please put them in a format (like MSWord)
that can be easily edited to make Jar's life easier...As I have told
Brian, this version tries to be more inclusive with optional ideas:
they used to get lost to the void before because they weren't "core".
Jar's introduction of an "optional" book solves this.
morach2: You and I Thomas seem to be acting like a new idea generator
or fresh meat to the older group
peyoterattle: Yah: We are a regular li'l 'Galapogas Island' "Fractal
Idea Generator" of NetEpic. Just one benefit of being off-line for
four years (OK: the _only_ benefit!!!)
peyoterattle: I have several ideas I wanna play-test out with Bryan
and our group, and then present to the Main Group in the next year:
mostly dealing with minor 'reiki' adjustments to what I perceive as
little idiosyncratic problems with Titans as they currently play:
......they just don't feel ..!._Anime_! enough to me :
(Have I mentioned several Times by now that I -really- like
"Neon Genesis Evangelion"...?
Or that I'm borderline obcessive-compulsive...?
ramospeter: _You're_ obessive compulsive....?!? hehe, you remind me
a lot of several enthusiastic people over the years....
