Hi!

Chaos units that are part mechanical, such as titans and LOB's, cannot
use the card EFFECT. This means the effect on the card (special power or
benefit) can never be used by such a unit, but they CAN be used to saved
themselves. Its a confusing distinction, but an important one. One thing
is the card effect, another surrendering a card to save itself from one
failed save.

As I recollect noise marines cannot combine barrages.
