Hi!

Actually the pre-Heresy times chapters where larger than the current 1000
man deals and they had their own space transport. The Heresy. Reduced the
chapter size to 1000 maximum and now Marines need the Imperial navy to
transport themselves.

This was done to avoid any one man to ever wield the power Horus did.

Some of the really old fluff, mention chapters in excess of 10000 strong!
Then again it was necessary back then when they were colonizing the galaxy
after teh age of darkness and warpstorms.

Geez, has it occured to any one how diluted the background has become? Heck
they are even invalidating some stuff. It used to be so dark and rich, now
its pretty bland. Here is some trivia for all you background fans

What is the name of the primarch of the Ultra marines?

Who is the "youngest" of the chaos gods?
