Well, the Eldar game was played with the old rules, and most of the
Eldar
never got into the battle due to the fact that he had placed 75% of
his
infantry behind a hill close to the setup zone. He wisely chose to
put
them on advance orders, which resulted in the fact that they never
came to the top :-) These were also the old prices, which have been
modified now.
You have to remember the cost. The Slann are EXPENSIVE, even
more so than the Eldar. A CC of Necron Raiders cost 900. A CC of
Vanguards are also 900. If you consider balance, this means
that
each one of these cards have to take out 1 ½ CC of Goffs
(these
cost 600 if i remember correctly). 10 Vanguard units against
what?
35+ goff boyz? They have to be good to do that.
Which Slann units ignores cover? None of the infantry,
that's for sure.
As far as i can see at a glance, only a few units with
plasma flamers
and flamer templates (all 25cm) ignores cover. There are
also a
few special cards with fixed tohit, but these are the
exception, not
the rule. The titans also have some barrage which ignores
cover,
but while their cost is still high, i can't afford to take
them in a
4k point game.
Several people here have tested the Slann extensively as far
as i
know. They seem to think that they are balanced, except for
a
few minor modifications. So far, ive only played Eldar and
Orks,
both times against vastly inexperienced players. You simply
need
a different tactic against the Slann. So, all of you who've
played
the Slann and won, please give your tactics suggestions to
Nils (who plays IG/SM/TG) on what to bring and how to stop
the
Slann :-)

Hmmm, Don't forget that you utterly smashed an eldar force a
couple of weeks
ago also (45 -0???Using the slann 2.0 rules). We have to
take into account
that your opponent played poorly in that game as well, and
of cource we'll
have to test the slannarmy further before we can make any
kind of
conclusions.
However, there are a couple of things that concerns me. I
feel that there is
to much fixed savingthrows and coverignoration in the slann
army. I also
believe that to many of the units has a 4+ or better to hit
roll. But what I
really find unreasonable is that the slann immunity to fear
and terror, and
that they don't need do check moral when facing Chaos. Thats
way, way, WAY
over the top in my opinion.
Well, it shall be interesting to see how the slann army
preformes in the
future. But a couple of more games like the last two, and I
think Rune wil
rapidly run out of players wanting to face him.
