Hi!
The way it works is that as a greater demon the LOB may use a chaos card to
ignore damage inflicted on it. BUT as a demon engine it may NOT use the
actual power printed on the card. For example the LOB may not turn invisible
using the invisibility card but may surrender the card to avoid some damage.

Note that the decision of surrendering a card to avoid damamge is done
BEFORE die rolls are made. Once rolls are made the decision stands. So you
use the card after its hit but BEFORE damamge rolls are made.

The sequence is as follows: Roll to hit, if hit determine scatter and
location of hit, roll the saving throw, IF failed this is the moement ot
play the card BEFORE you roll on the damage table.
