Hi!

Your interpretation is the correct one and although you could conceivable withhold your fire to the advance phase within the framework of the rules it is silly to do so since you are most likely pinned and will not be able to fire anyway. So take the first fire shots normally, theres not much benefit in waiting. Units that are not pinned can fire at whatever they want anyway thus you cant use the cheesy ploy of engaging a titan with infantry to make it fire at them.

No. A stand that has been in CC with a stand of equal or greater pinning class may not do anything after CC is resolved.

This is how GW wrote the rules. Undoubtedly it exists many houserulevariants on this, but we have always asumed that a unit who has been charged use all their energy to fend off the attacker, and if on FF it fires all their shots simultanously.

If you are in the combatzone and is being charged you dont hold your shots and wait to se if your buddies in the squad hits the foe!

    Hi Rune!

As far as I know, a unit on First Fire can always choose to fire in the
    Advance Phase.
