If this was all the problem, it has an easy solution. Put a big banner on
the Stand (it's the chapter banner). My 1st company banner is 1,5x2 cm big.

You are right, but the 1st company commander bodyguards are the best of the
best, so I think that a +5 to CAF is not too exagerated.
About giving veteran honours to other armies, well, I suppose it can be
done. Veteran Guardians for the Eldar? Why not? It shouldn't be very
difficult to rule.
>Exactly. This is why I'm happy to see Companies of "Veteran" IG troopers

No. Probably more. Everytime I've used IG I've lost about 20 - 50% of my
forces. But all this stands doesn't need to be taken as permanent
casualties. I think that about a 33% (a detachment) of every company
survives more than 5 battles. After that, they are reshuffled with other
surviving detachments into new companies.
>I don't like the idea of allowing people to buy Veteran abilities for more

I understand your opinion but I don't agree with you. If the cost for the
abilities is the right one, it won't be unbalancing or cheesy. Why can
Titans have special abilities (incoming rules) and companies not? I would
exchange quickly any Titan ability for the possibility to raise a veteran
company of infantry. I promise you that my veteran SM have saved me more
games than any titan, and for me they are far more important.
I don't think IG veterans would be unbalancing. They would add another
possibility of quality infantry (like Ogryns) to guard objectives or assault
(slowly) other ones.
