The link game you are talking about was produced by GW (more or less) It is
a board game called "battle for Armageddon" that featured orks verses humans
in the first war of armeggedon. There was also an add on for choas and a
version that covered the emperors battle against Horus on the battlebarge.
I believe a copy of the game and its rules and counters is available as a
pdf download at the armeggedon 3 site

By simple amendments and drawing maps for each campaign, the system
provides an easy to use and tried method of representing the grand picture
for land campaigns.. The game IS simplistic but is easily modified.. I have
designed a cyberboard version of the game that enables me to play it by PBEM
or as the basis for strategic movement either fighting battles with the game
rules or translating them to a game board for epic or dirtside etc.. I have
added more counters to represent the forces I use but it is essentially the
same game..
