Aren't the traitor marines the ones with the special powers?
ie. they get one card/game which cause devestating affects
within 15-25cms (depending on the legion)? If so, i can definately
see why people bitch about it, as it opens for some of the cheesiest
moves ever :)
And while im at it :
Some of those chaos powers are ludicrously powerful, some can even
affect titans without a save (so our chaos player told me, i havnt
actually studied the chaos rules). When you can force anyone within
15cms to make a save or die, its very powerful!! And the regular cards
are bad enough. Take the burning bodies card which was played on 3
of my vanguards in a building. They get no save (even though they
have a fixed save of 4+), and the building is not enterable the
rest of the game. I could accept this if there was a save, but no
saves are very un-epic like. I cant understand why the people who think
that the Slann are too powerful readily accept the chaos powers
without blinking...

Actually I dont see al the fuss about giving T-hawks to chaos marines.
A:
They would be restrcited to marines, i.e. no landing a bloodthirster.
B:
As special cards they are quite limited anyway
C:
Noone complains about marine players landing veterans, wolf guard or
terminators (or even assault termies (+8 CAF) in T-hawks.
But every is bitching when a chaos player want to drop some traitor marines
with CAF +3.
Even if he pays loads of points and is actually risking his elite infantry
to AA fire and interceptions
Anyway, for mixed imperial armies, I dont see the big fuss.
True, I could take IG firepower, marine infantry and cheap massed titans but
I cant get much of either.
THis army would be quite allround, but would lack the specialized focus of
the component armies.
Also, I have played with both individual and combined imp. armies and have
won and lost with both types.
I agree that you have more options when combining, but its not that big a
deal.
