A lot of this stuff we've heard about/seen before, except for maybe the
bit on Chaos demons. I think Squat and Knight house or net rules are in
order (looks at big box of various Knights.)

I got this stuff from a person I know who is high up in the chain of command
at GW. I would bet this stuff is 99% correct.

I figure GW won't mind me posting this, I run Bartertown, so I figure they
don't love me anyways. :'-(

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
He or she sent me this (most of this is answers to my questions):

""I'm not sure if there are new Tyranid models, there is a picture of a
lictor I spotted but I can't remember what the old one looked like so
it doesn't help.

The boxed set contains :- (the new boxed set)

Three books, An Army Book (this has details of all the armies, which
should mean no seperate codexes), a Battle Book (this contains stuff
about painting/terrain/campaigns/senarios amongst other stuff) and the
Rules Book.

There are SM and Orks figures (including a Card Ork Gargant) but I
don't know what there is of each.

Dreadnaughts and lictors etc appear to be on 1cm by 2cm bases, these
are still individual figures.

The metal vehicles are unbased.

There is no clue as to how Chaos Demons are going to be based. They
are classed as infantry so in theory they are going to be 5 to a base
but obviously they're going to have to bring out new models if they
are. I hope they're going to be left as 1 model to a base the same a
s lictors.

The special abilities/flavour of the chaos demons has gone. ie a
Khorne Hound and a Fiend of Slanesh are exactly the same now. Chaos
marines have seperate abilites nut no special cards.

Squats are definitely out but the other races are there though in an
altered form. ie

There are no Imperial Knights.
There are no trolls/minataurs for chaos.

There is going to be a new versions of many of the models. The
Thunder Hawk Gunship is 2/3 times the size of the old one.

There is a pile of ruined buildings (don't know whether they're
plastic or card)

And the usual sets of dice, counter etc.

Base sizes, you'll love this.

Infantry is on what appears to be 1cm deep by 3/4 cm wide bases. This
is for 5 men.

Bikes, cavalry etc is on approx 2cm by 3/4cm wide for **3 figures**.

The strange thing about the Imperial Knights disappearing is that the
Slaanesh Knights are still there, thought they're called Slaanesh war
machines.

This is a totally different subject but do you remember the picture
of Orion for WH that was in WD and was painted flesh colours rather
than green. Aparently the guy that painted it got the sack. Nice
place GW."""
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Me again, surprisingly he mentioned that psykers and commanders aren't
overpowerful and unbalancing!!!! I was so shocked when I heard this, I
thought aliens took over GW. Unfortunately, another person I know did mention
that there is still room for typical GW crap in that you can upgrade squads to
veteran status or something. The 40K "everyone in my IG army is a veteran"
syndrome.

Well, Typical GW plot.

1. New bases to help get rid of old stuff and make people buy new stuff.
Reason for new bases....???!!???

2. Big boxed set full of worthless crap. Like I care what battle reports,
terrain making, etc. etc. We get our monthly dose of that in WD or in any of
the several miniature guides. I would be happy with just the rules. One big
fat book for $24.95. It worked well with Rogue Trader....

3. I think he might be mistaken. They took all of the flavor out of Epic.
Tyranids have for vehicles: "artillery", biovores, carnifexes, harridans and
"assault spawns" and so to re-introduce it and special rules, they will be
offering codexes/boxed sets/magic rules for another $30.00 each. They do this
every time a new boxed set comes out. (40K black codex, WHFB Beasty book)

*** These two are just hypothesis about what is going to happen in the new
boxed set, they are yet unconfirmed***

4. Crappy useless dumb miniatures offered in the boxed set. Let's take WHFB
for an example. The sauruses are all one pose, the skinks are only two poses
and no command figures. Also, they gave the sauruses hand weapons. I have
never fought anyone who didn't pay the extra point per mini to upgrade to
spears. They gave them hand weapons so you buy the metal $6.50 blisters also.

5. Expensive. I smell a price hike.

Anyone wanna take bets on the last two? I hope I'm wrong, I really really
do...

More to come!!!
