As an Ork, well, if I ever got rid of a blast marker it would have been
different.
Important safety note #1, If you are fighting some one with a 90 cm
range artillery detachment, don't cluster. Given my comments about
"Waterlizt", well, lets just say that in this battle I was not the Black
Watch vs the French, but was the 54th Mass. Regt vs the South. (see the
movie "Glory"), or we were re doing Gettysburg, with me play the role of
Pickett. (two famous examples of ATTEMPTING to charge guns and failing
in a big way).
ISN #2, If you are Ork and you have the option of fighting on a small
table [3 ft x 6 ft (90 cm x 150 cm ] vs a large table [4 ft x 8 ft (120
cm x 240 cm)] go with the small one
ISN #3. The Orky habit of charging regardless of if you have enough
troops ready or not will get you killed in detail. This is a side
effect of the race's so that is what you should do, regardless.
ISN #4 All the units in a detachment should move the same speed. As a
case in point, a detachment that has troops that can move 50 cm on
assault orders should not have troops that only move 30 on assault
orders. There will be some detachment redesigns coming on.
ISN #5 Combined arms is a good thing. Even if your artillery sucks
large moss covered rocks you should have at least one detachment of it.
ISN #6 Not getting rid of blast marks is a BAD thing. I lost about 30
moral points to my inability to clear ANY blast markers off of 2 units
for 3 turns running.
All in all it was a good game, however, aside from taking 2 charges to
learn that a frontal assault vs guns that WAY out range you is a bad
idea (which I knew, I plead "brain fart"), the thing that ate my lunch
was not getting blast markers off my detachments. For 2 critical turns,
instead of getting the expects 2-3 bm removed during rally phase I got 0
(zero, null, nadda, zip, none, nyet etc.) removed. This hurts a lot.
