Its sad that onceagain the rules are such that you HAVE to rely on your
opponents integrity.
Id like to see a set where my opponent could pick ANY combination of
units and I'd feel happy to face them (and I could do likewise and he'd
feel comfortable
in return).
That's true:
It would be the best game in the word when this will happen (Think why
so many peoples play chess)!
(Back on earth:) the problem is that Epic is probabilly too complex to
be made completely Cheese-Free:
Our group becomed bored of this, so we start play for fun only, no
matter who wins (A good match is always worth being played, Epic, WH40K,
FB ecc.)
In the real word battles needn't to be ballanced, so we start plaing
scenarios based on battles fought in the real world (GW tried this in
the articles "Kusta's Last Stand" loosely based on the Little big Horn
scenario, WD 195 p41)
We find this greatly enhance the games fun, far more then the different
kind of army selection.
We usually choose an arbiter which is responsible for the scenario's set
up: player don't know what are they going to play since they start
deployment before the game.
We are told in advance which restriction applies to our armies to match
the spirit of the battle, so, there is no reason trying to cheat,
because is the game, not the rule that interest us (I.e. Will you be
able to subvetr the result of the Dhien Bien Phu battle?).
Remember: the good general must able to win with what he has, not with
what he would like!
PS: this discussion is opened to all of us, so, if anybody has something
to add, then welcome!
