This is correct. Initiative determines order. The nightwings are the
only initiative 4 units, so they ALL go first, etc.

If two groups of nightwings were intercepting each other, it would
alternate planes starting with the player with the higher strategy
rating for that game.

If one group of nightwings intercepts another group of nightwings on
ground attack, the intercepting nightwings ALL go first (as if they were
initiative 5) as ties in initiative are broken by difference in orders.

ONLY if both planes have the same initiative AND the same orders do you
alternate planes.
