Firstly, did you send it air- or sea- mail?
If sea mail, I have received stuff in the past some 18 months after
postage.
If air mail, the record is 5 months from the US, 7 months to the US.
I'm still waiting on some stuff from Canada that was sent when... May?
In the past, I've had an order for $200+ of figurines go astray in the
post from Amarillo. The audit trail showed it got as far as my local
post office then.... Twilight Zone.
So... on my own experience, I'd say that the odds are no more than 50/50
that he's stiffing you. He may not have got the shipment, or you may not
have received the payment he sent you.
My advice is:
If airmail and over 4 weeks, inquire via US Mail (if that's how you sent
it).
Send a letter to the GPO box address.
Send a letter to "The Postmaster" Machan's beach.
If you can get a name, try
http://www.whitepages.com.au/
for the phone number.
Contact Hotmail, see if you can get some details.
I might just try to contact the postmaster at Machan's beach, and see if
the PO box is still current. Dunno if I can find out who rented it
though - but the AFP certainly can.
If you get hard data indicating mail fraud, then send it to me and I'll
contact the Australian Federal Police.
