No. Well, OK, I can't speak for everyone else, but no. For one thing,
it's already a very potent weapon. For another, the text specifically
states that the arc has a reach of a few meters past the end of the
weapon. Sure, it's mostly flavor text, but....

Has anyone else on the list seen an electric arc furnace (open or
closed)? Basically, you've got two or more electrodes, typically
graphite, and you run a massive current between them to melt metal.
Anyway, the lasburner looks a lot like it could be something like an arc
furnace, at least to me. The bottom section should really be cut into
two chunks, but that should matter all that much....

It's not shooting anything, IMO.
