--------> I won't get into human nature with 'ya - though I'd say it
leads people to oversimplify things at least as often as it does to
overcomplicate things : )
We all think it should be the same way, which is what annoys me -
past experience with GW games has shown that that has little to no
bearing on the "right" or official answer. That's why I've been throwing
up those various arguments - they're variations of things I've heard
before. Heck, you can't even go by the miniatures anymore - WHFB Goblin
Doom Diver is an artillery piece, a big slingshot which flings a gobbo
into the air. You get 1 slingshot and 1 goblin, and it's assumed there
are other goblins waiting around to be fired (unlimited ammo), even
though there is one mini. WH40K Pulsa Rokkit: Miniature is the crew, a
launch stand, and one rokkit. Guess what? It's a one-shot weapon.
You can't even go by universe/previous editions.: WH40K rokkit,
noted above is one-shot. In SM/TL, Orky Pulsa Rokkits were one-shots,
and came in batteries of three. Now, in E40K, they AREN'T one-shots,
despite all previous indications they were. The answer was "doesn't say
it in the rules for THIS edition anywhere" and "you're basing things on
the LAST edition" etc. So now I want a rule/note that specifically says
these things are one shots, or they aren't because there isn't a rule
that says so.
I'm hoping we some more Q&A's in WD. They've kind of gotten away from
this, and it was about the most useful section in the magazine, when it
was done . As for finding faults too quickly, well, hey, the game's been
out for 8 months, and this is the first time I've run across this issue.
Also, after dealing with 2 (really 3) versions of WH40K, 3 versions
of Epic, the last 4 versions of WHFB, and MOW, I've seen some really
wacked responses to reasonable questions, and the way you think it ought
to go (and the way most people seem to think it ought to go) is often
not how it goes when GW gets around to answering it, so I am anxious for
an official word. Remeber the "what do blast markers do to War Engines?"
question? The guys in one local store said,"well until we see it in WD
we don't care what e-mail or someone's website says" and there was some
lag there. Same with the" how many SHW's is a Pulsar equivalent too?"
etc. If they'd publish it, how much easier would it be when playing with
new people?
