After a long spell of absence I am finally back again. This time bearing 'Gene-seed' gifts. After spending some time changing my site around it occured to me that what we all really want is a regular set of Epic related articles (such as those in WD) that we can simply download for free and view at our own leisure, hence 'Dropship'
Q: What is Dropship?
A: Dropship is a fully self-contained set of Epic articles and regular features (or e-zine) that you can download and view using your browser. I intend Dropship to be initially bi-monthly and each issue will contain a dozen or so articles such as general discussions,rumours, tips on armies, modelling and building detachments, new rules and army lists/stats, background fiction and even complete campaign packs. Essentially it is a free forum for our favourite hobby...Epic and will host articles written by you for other fellow Epic gamers. The only proviso is that all articles will be written for Epic 40K (not SM/TL). There are a number of excellent sites that deal specifically with the previous versions, however Gene-seed and hence Dropship are solely concerned with the new release (at least as far as the rules and stats are concerned, the rest of the articles will be equally as applicable to all versions)
Q: What do you need to be able to use it?
A: Any browser that supports frames and a copy of WinZip (to unpack it). Other than that nothing.
Q: How much will it cost?
A: Nothing, it is free. The whole point of dropship is to help reduce the costs of finding what you want and having to look at it on-line. It is not sanctioned by GW and is simply an extension of my site so downloading it will cost a lot less than constantly having to search the site on-line.
Q: How do I get a copy?
A: This is where you come in. Dropship Issue 1 is about 80 percent complete and currently has space for some regular contributors. If you have an idea for a regular column that you would like to do, it could be a featured battlereport, tips on painting/converting, your experiences at a tournament or even a work of fiction or Epic 40K campaign, then drop me a line by private email to carl.woodrow_at_... with the title 'Dropship Recruitment' and I will send you details on where you can download the Issue 1 pre-release. If you like what you see and want to get involved contributing articles then get in touch.
Likewise, if you have an Epic related web-site that you would like featured in Dropship then get in touch as I will be running a regular section of 'favourite' GW websites.
Dropship is intended to be a free forum of Epic material written for gamers. For more details see the submission guidelines in the pre-release (under contacts).
Either way, Dropship Issue 1 will be shipping soon and as always I will let you all know via this mailing list before anyone else so you can get your hands on it first.
