I'd say we should at least force full contact. So, with infantry bases 1:4
would be the max.

Our group do it this way: The more numerous chooses the first combat, then
the other chooses the next, and so on, until all stands fight.

Yes. Though we might still restrict it by saying that A&CC and A&FF are
allowed but not C&FF.
