I'm definitely moving towards an interest in simpler games. I recommend
Full Thrust as a simple spaceship game that is a lot of fun. I haven't
played recently, but I hope that will be one of the alternate games
around here.

I'd like to try this, but it isn't very available.

This one I like. Have you tried Wiz War? That may be my very favorite
game. It is also very light, very funny, plays well with 2 to 6
players. Well, with 6 it got a little slow. It is quick, so you can
play several games. That's good, because games can be very different,
sometimes over in a few really good attacks, sometimes some great
movement spells, and sometimes long and drawn out as each side counters
with some incredible combination of cards.

I've never known too much about *D&D, but I did get this game for $3
from Kaybee Toys. I only played it once.

We are possibly about to have a "group" here soon. Before I moved to
Massachusetts, I mostly played one friend I knew from work. (Though
Aaron Teske came by once with his Squats.) Here, I've played against
Elias twice and once against someone else in the area. This Saturday,
we've got 4 people coming for an Eldar&Space Marine vs Ork battle.
Although I'm hoping this will turn into a way for me to actually play
this game a bit more than I have in the past, I'm also hoping to get a
group of people willing to try a few other things. That means I'll have
to try some stuff, too, even the more complicated things people want to
try. Fair's fair. :-)

I'd think that it would be good to switch games every now and then. It
occurs to me, however, that to play a game a couple of times, I'll
either have to start playing a lot more often, or really limit which
games I'm going to try. I'll never play all the games I have! Maybe I
should take Blood Bowl off my birthday list . I want to try Full Thrust
(GZG space minis game), Dirtside II (just to compare--I'm not sure it
offers me more of what I want, though I'm interested in the activation
system), Blood Bowl, Stargrunt II (still on order, still planning to
save bucks by playing with epic minis). I want to do some roleplaying
with my wife and kids (I feel like you need some continuity roleplaying,
and they're the only people I can meet regularly enough with to do it),
and keep playing various board games I've got. There's just not enough
time! And I can't play every Saturday, or my family will feel (rightly)
slighted.
