A few more minor fifferences; Support weapons are infantry. They can be
vehicle-transported. They can be dropped from pods. They can occupy terrain
that vehicles don't like and get an armour bonus for doing so.
In a faceoff between LRs and SWs, LRs had better run because:
-your armour is meaningless in AT vs. AT
-you get approximately 2 shots to the enemy's 3, and every hit he scores takes
out 2 of yours, while every hit you score knocks out 1 of his.
The only obstacle to Imperial SWs is finding minis (although an optional
techmarine figure based with any kind of gun on legs is easy enough to do).
When the Eldar SW models hit the shelves, the Land Raider Death tolls went
through the ceiling.
As for transporting troops, it's a fair desperation tactic for battered troops
whose transport is destroyed to be evac'd by LRs on march orders, but
otherwise, an LR that is picking up and dropping off moves 10 cm. The infantry
could walk alongside and do the same speed.
