What happened to all the loyalist SM battlegroups? Some of
them survived, after all (Ultramarines didn't get heavily involved in
the fighting). They split up, that's what happened. Same as Chaos.

I disagree. There are still a lot of Chaos Titans around, but
they've gathered followers by now. They don't wander around as the
bulk of a force (company strength). They now play a support role,
just as they do in a loyal SM army.
