        GW in their Epic games have always included some sort of buildings.

Titan Legion #1 had six Styrofoam office towers.

SM #1 had a collection of colourful printed card fold up buildings with
plastic roofs, representing different buildings from factories to office,
to power supply.

SM #2 had fewer, larger apartment size printed card fold ups.
 
Tianicus #2 had larger buildings and Ork ones for the first time.
 
Epic 40K has the ruins, my personal favourite.

        I suppose it has to do with GW's concept of ready to play games out of the
box.
