A similar method to the basswood base that I used is to roll out a pad of
clay. Position the front and two sides first for the best fit and stick in
the clay, test fit the back and adjust accordingly. Use epoxy on a large
piece like this, or superglue and then put epoxy on the inside joints. The
back was done last since it will be seen less often and is much easier to fill
with green stuff or the equivalent.
