The Assault phase is split into two parts: Assault and Firefight.

Assault closely resembles CC of old, except that the combat is by
detachment, not by unit, so other units not in base-to-base can lend a
hand in the fight.

Firefight happens after the Assaults. Opposing forces within 15cm
(but not touching) have a heated battle which causes little supression and
damage, but will Break the losing forces. Supposed to represent close
range firefights over territory. Also allows detachments configured for
firepower and not close combat to drive back opposing forces.
