Just a matter of faulty memory on one of our parts (mine, most likely). I
was pretty sure they attacked along a smaller fron and spread across the
"backfield" after penetration.

Sorry, my source was my Western Civ professor from 1992 ('91?). His
specialties were military history (especially 20th cent.) and Russian
history. So I'm sure the information he gave me was correct, it's just my
memory that is fading.
