My fiance is scottish in heritage and I can vouch that the way they look at
money is true. She is very very cany with her money. She saves like a
machine, but then will outlay a lot to get the things she really wants. She
actually saved thousands on unemployment benefits while still totally
supporting herself. She's taught me a lot about money.

And how to manage to convince her that spending copious amounts on games
that seem very frivilous.
