Our group has played a total of one game, with unbalanced
forces. (I chose stompy troops, he didn't.

750 point game, "Meeting Engagement", no objectives
Detachment 1:
2 Nightwings,
2 Phoenix Bombers. (Used Space Fleet Wraithships)
Detachment 2:
1 Farseer on Vyper
4 Jetbikes stands (2 squads)
There was originally another Vyper, but I used the points to upgrade 2
Nightwings to Phoenixes.
Detachment 3:
4 Scout stands (2 squads)
2 Falcons
4 Dreadnaughts (one was detachment HQ :)
Detachment 4:
Revenant Scout Titan
I was playing Imperials
Detachment 1:
12 Rough Riders (1 was HQ)
Detachment 2:
3 Artillery
2 Siege Artillery
about 8 stands of dogfaces
Detachment 3:
2 Predators
5 Sentinels
4 stands of Heavies
about 6 stands of boys.
(working off of memory, but it's probably close enough for you to see
the outcome already)
> 2. The battle report.
Turn 1 shooting: No LOS, so no shooting
Turn 1 CC/FF: I think I shot a Rough Rider stand.
Turn 2 movement: My bomber group shoots up the 3 arty and the 4
stands defenting it.
My revenant saves a bunch.
Turn 2 shooting: I pop up and nail a couple cavalry.
My revenant saves a bunch.
Turn 2 WE shooting: I kill a heavy stand, a Predator, and the
sentinels.
Turn 2 CC/FF: He goes first, Rough Riders lose against bikers.
I go, arty loses against bikers.
Also, Rough Riders lose against my Detachment 3.
Rules played wrong:
I had the Assault and Firepower on the jetbikes switched. Oops.
(Sorry!) It would have made the difference twice between winning a CC
by 4 instead of 5. Casualties would have been slightly more even, and
I might not have had enough bikes left to charge the arty.
We then called the game off due to his lack of flyers and War engines.

Yeah, figure out what unit in your army is biggest, looks the
baddest, and can soak up the most fire without dying. Field a few in
and stick them in prominent places. Mine appears to be the Revenant.
This tactic worked beautifully in Epic 2nd edition as well.
