Ok , clear concise, I understand. I am blushing cause I forgot the closest part.

Again, don't have to move towards the nearest enemy, I understand.
Now we take two totally understandable sentences, string them together and we
get ........mud. What the heck does it mean that I can't move away from the
nearest enemy but I don't have to move towards the nearest enemy? So if
you assault move you have two choices: move towards the nearest enemy. Or
move along some invisible circumference determined by the distance between
the moving detachment and the nearest enemy with the final position closer to
some other enemy unit? That's nuts. why didn't they just say You must move
towards the nearest unengaged enemy. The other option is just ridiculous. I admit
 the error of my ways. I missed the word CLOSEST in the first sentence.
